About Clinical Education
Independent, source-led learning developed for healthcare professionals.
Clinical Education is an independent educational platform for healthcare professionals. It was developed initially around the learning needs and professional experience of SAS and locally employed doctors, while deliberately supporting a wider healthcare audience.
Published material may be relevant to SAS doctors, consultants, resident doctors, locally employed doctors, international medical graduates, general practitioners, nurses, allied healthcare professionals, educators and service leaders. Individual modules state their intended audience and professional context.
Source-led learning
Clinical modules should prioritise current primary guidance. Professional modules distinguish regulation, employment arrangements, organisational policy and professional judgement where those systems differ.
The SAS Doctors Handbook
The Handbook programme and online handbook were written specifically for SAS doctors in the NHS. Much of the material on appraisal, portfolios, leadership, safe working, professional development and career planning is also useful to other healthcare professionals. Readers outside SAS practice are welcome to use individual modules or complete the programme while recognising where SAS-specific contractual material does not apply to them.
Independent status
Clinical Education is independent and is not an NHS body, regulator, royal college or professional association. Completion records demonstrate engagement with educational material only.
