Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to read modules?
No. Published learning can be read without an account. Sign-in is required to save progress, submit assessments, keep certificates and use account messaging.
Why does sign-in use Google or Microsoft?
Password-free external sign-in reduces the need for Clinical Education to store or reset a separate website password.
Can I close my account?
Use Messages & support to request account closure. Some issued certificate and audit records may need to be retained to preserve the integrity of records already created.
What is the assessment pass mark?
The pass mark is stated on each assessment. It is a learning threshold, not a declaration of professional competence.
Can I retake an assessment?
Yes, where the module remains published. Review the explanatory feedback and learning material before trying again.
Does a high score prove competence?
No. Assessment scores show performance on that educational question set only.
What is a module certificate?
A module certificate records successful completion of an individual module and the score shown on the certificate.
What is a programme certificate?
A programme certificate records completion of all required modules in a defined programme.
Why are some programme certificates approved by an administrator?
Manual approval allows the administrator to confirm that the defined completion record is present before issuing an overall programme certificate.
Can programme certificates be automatic?
Yes. An administrator can configure a programme for automatic issue or allow automatic approval for an individual learner.
Are certificates accredited CPD?
No, not unless a specific programme explicitly states that external accreditation has been obtained. The standard certificate confirms completion only.
How can someone verify a certificate?
Use the Verify certificate page and the unpredictable verification reference printed on the certificate, subject to the learner’s verification setting.
Who can use Clinical Education?
The platform is designed for healthcare professionals, including SAS doctors, consultants, resident and locally employed doctors, international graduates, GPs, nurses, allied healthcare professionals, educators and service leaders.
Is Clinical Education only for SAS doctors?
No. SAS practice remains an important foundation of the platform, but Clinical Education is deliberately cross-professional. The SAS Doctors Handbook programme remains SAS-specific in origin and clearly identifies material that may also be useful to others.
Does Clinical Education cost anything?
The current public learning resource is free to use unless a future page explicitly states otherwise.
Can I take individual modules without completing a programme?
Yes. Programmes provide structure, but individual published modules can be used independently.
Do programme modules have to be completed in order?
Usually not unless a programme page explicitly says that sequence is required. The displayed order is the recommended learning pathway.
What does sources checked mean?
It identifies the date on which the module sources were reviewed. It does not guarantee that guidance, law, contracts or policy remain unchanged after that date.
What happens if guidance changes?
Use the current operative source for any time-sensitive decision. Clinical Education can update or temporarily withdraw material when a significant change is identified.
What information is stored about me?
See the Privacy notice. Account, learning, assessment, certificate and support information is kept only for the functions described there.
How do I contact the administrator?
Signed-in users can open Messages & support from their account. Use it for learning, certificate, contribution or account questions.
