GMC publishes annual whistleblowing data

The GMC has published its annual whistleblowing disclosures data. It recorded 52 concerns in the 12 months to the end of March 2026, including 19 disclosures from doctors, 15 from other healthcare professionals and 18 anonymous disclosures.

Why it matters

The update reinforces the professional importance of raising patient-safety concerns and provides current data on how disclosures reaching the regulator are handled. The GMC also signposts its speaking-up guidance and confidential helpline.
