How Ask Chris works

Chris is ClinicalEdu’s AI learning companion, designed to explain approved learning material, support fictional case reasoning and help users navigate evidence without replacing clinical judgement.

ClinicalEdu › Older Person Centre › How Ask Chris works

A learning companion, not a clinical decision-maker

Chris helps healthcare professionals understand ClinicalEdu topics, compare concepts, work through fictional cases, test understanding and find relevant sources. The aim is useful, conversational learning grounded in reviewed ClinicalEdu material and selected authoritative sources.

Designed for education

Chris does not replace individual clinical assessment, prescribing information, current national guidance or local pathways. Please do not enter identifiable patient information.

What Chris can help with

Explain

Clarify clinical concepts in plain professional language and expand when more depth is useful.

Compare

Compare related concepts, approaches and limitations without treating different tools as interchangeable.

Work through cases

Use ClinicalEdu’s fictional case journeys for reasoning practice, reflection and multidisciplinary discussion.

Test understanding

Offer questions and debriefs that explain reasoning rather than simply giving right-or-wrong labels.

Show sources

Where available, identify the approved sources supporting material factual claims.

Navigate learning

Help users move between handbook topics, learning programmes, cases and practical resources.

How context is used

When Ask Chris is opened from an Older Person Centre topic, the chat can carry a small visible learning-context marker such as the page topic or selected learning mode. The chat shows that context so the user can see what is being used.

It does not silently send hidden page content, patient records or everything typed into a clinical tool. Users can clear the context at any time.

Safety and source principles

  • Approved learning material and reviewed sources are preferred over unsupported recollection.
  • ClinicalEdu educational interpretation is kept separate from validated instruments and national standards.
  • Calculations and clinical scores should use separately validated deterministic rules rather than AI improvisation.
  • CFS remains a clinical-judgement tool; Chris does not automatically assign a score from narrative prose.
  • Fictional cases are the preferred environment for advanced reasoning practice.
  • Source and model changes are evaluated before advanced tutor functions are expanded.
